Science Fair

Oikotan organized a community science fair to promote experiential learning and encourage students to explore scientific inquiry beyond traditional classroom settings. The initiative provided a platform for youth to engage in hands-on projects aligned with the scientific method and engineering design process, fostering curiosity and independent thinking.

Through participation, students strengthened their critical thinking, research, and communication skills while gaining confidence in presenting their ideas. The science fair also nurtured creativity, problem-solving abilities, and a sustained interest in STEM learning, supporting holistic youth development within the community.

Cards for Seniors

Oikotan’s youth and community volunteers participated in an intergenerational service initiative designed to support and uplift seniors experiencing social isolation. Participants created and delivered thoughtful greeting cards to residents of nursing homes, assisted living communities, and seniors living independently.

This initiative fostered empathy, civic responsibility, and meaningful human connection while promoting values of compassion and community engagement among youth. The program not only brought joy and emotional support to seniors but also strengthened intergenerational bonds and community well-being.

Second Harvest

We shared our time, talents, and generosity alongside youth and community members to support our local food bank in its mission to end hunger. Through collective effort and compassion, we work together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of families facing food insecurity.

Preserving Indian Culture

Oikotan is dedicated to preserving and promoting the diverse cultural heritage of India through inclusive community programming, performances, and educational initiatives. Our cultural events create opportunities for youth and community members to engage with traditional music, dance, storytelling, and folk arts in meaningful and accessible ways.

By presenting heritage art forms and encouraging intergenerational participation, we foster cultural pride, awareness, and continuity of traditions. Our initiatives emphasize cultural education, artistic expression, and cross-cultural understanding, ensuring that traditional art forms remain vibrant and relevant within Minnesota’s multicultural community.
